The Iraqi Gymnastics Federation delegation meets with the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Mustansiriya University.

Today, a delegation from the Iraqi Gymnastics Federation, headed by Eng. Walid Al-Saadi, his deputy Dr. Amer Sakran, and a member of the technical committee, Mr. Amjad Al-Sawad, met with the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Mustansiriya University, Dr. Hussam Al-Momen.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Saadi congratulated Dr. Al-Momen on assuming the position of Dean, expressing his happiness at meeting him and his desire to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the Federation and the College to serve the sport of gymnastics.

The two parties discussed many issues related to gymnastics, where Al-Momen presented his vision for developing curricula to keep pace with the rapid developments in the field of sports and achieve integration with the needs of the labor market. In turn, Al-Saadi provided a detailed explanation of the reality of the game in Iraq, pointing out the challenges and problems it faces, and the importance of upgrading it.

The meeting was also held with a number of teaching professors at the college, where ideas and proposals were exchanged on how to improve and develop the gymnastics material.
The two sides discussed ways of future cooperation, including the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the college and the federation. The two sides also agreed to develop the college’s staff in the gymnastics specialization, and to hold training and arbitration courses for college students, to benefit from the distinguished ones among them in the federation’s activities.
The two sides agreed on the need to hold a meeting soon to discuss proposals to develop the gymnastics subject in the college. In a step to enhance the popularity of the game among the public, Professor Amjad Zain Al-Abidin proposed holding an annual gymnastics festival at Al-Mustansiriya University in cooperation with the college, which was welcomed by the dean.
It was also agreed to hold a number of joint meetings with officials in the Ministry of Education, with the aim of reviving the spirit of gymnastics in educational institutions, as it represents a basis for developing the game and achieving common goals.
These steps come within the framework of the efforts made to promote gymnastics in Iraq and enhance its role in society.
